Akari
With our debut album, we wanted to explore different facets of nostalgia, both in the music and in the stories told. These songs are the result of seven distinct musical perspectives finding common ground in Soul, R&B, and Rock. The music is warm and soulful, yet driven by the vibrant music scene that surrounds us as a Berlin-based group. After having finished the creative side of this process, we are looking for partners who connect to our vision and want to help us reach more people.
Akari is an alternative Soul 7-piece band based in Berlin. The group formed on a smaller scale through the shared musical experiments of friends and fellow music students.
Over the years, they continued to expand seamlessly, incorporating new members and voices.
Since their formation in 2023, Akari went on to release their debut EP “Eyes To The Clouds” in 2024, as well as a standalone single “I See It Now” later that year, which was recorded and produced by Pete Smith (The Police, Stevie Wonder, Central Line…).
Now, after 2 years of writing, recording and bringing their music to the stage, the band is set to release their self-titled 9-track debut album at the beginning of 2027.
Leading up to the release, they have played their first self-organised tour in England (2025), selling out their headline show in London and performing at the Victorious Festival.
This year, they were among the winners and recipients of the Berlin GESOBAU Jazz & Soul Award, and have just been chosen for a promotional funding grant by the German “Initiative Musik”. All in all, this sets them up for an exciting release as the next step.
With her powerful, virtuosic, and effortless singing, Texan-born singer Natalia Joy leads the band through captivating live shows and carefully arranged, intricate recordings. The band's material is made up of a vast spectrum of different feelings and genre-bending compositions, ranging from energetic up-tempo groove to psychedelic rock and deep, intimate and heartfelt compositions, showcasing the band's both personal and experimental spirit.
Akari is a group that keeps innovating itself; at the heart of each performance is always the shared celebration of the music and the act of coming together to create.
